COMING TO BLACKWEIR... PRE-EVENT INFORMATION

GATE TIMINGS

General Admission, The Garden and Accessible gates will open at 5:00 pm. Please note that the last entry to any Blackweir event is at 8:30 PM.

Show times are always subject to change.

Entertainment is due to finish at around 10:30 pm.

We would suggest arriving early to soak up the atmosphere.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Travel advice for Blackweir Live Concerts in Cardiff

The M4 motorway is expected to be very busy for these concerts – so please plan ahead.

For up to date traffic information on the motorway and trunk roads go to the Traffic Wales website, or @TrafficWalesS on Twitter and Facebook.

Anyone attending these concerts are strongly advised to plan their journey in advance and get into Cardiff early.  

Road closures

For all the concerts, the following roads will be closed between 4pm and midnight to facilitate these events.

  • Castle Street throughout its length, from its junction with Westgate Street
  • Duke Street and Kingsway
  • North Road from its junction with Colum Road throughout to Boulevard De Nantes; Boulevard De Nantes at its junction with Park Place (Access for buses and taxis/residents will be managed to Greyfriars Road)
  • Cowbridge Road East from Cathedral Road through to its junction with Westgate Street with access to Westgate Street being permitted.

Civic Centre

Access to part of the Civic Centre will be controlled throughout the day from 7am.

Roads affected include: King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road and Gorsedd Gardens Road.

The right-hand turn from Colum Road into Corbett Road will also be suspended for the road closure times to permit and manage access to residents / business off Corbett Road.

Trains

Transport for Wales and Great Western Railway have issued travel advice for all those attending concerts in Cardiff by train this summer https://news.gwr.com/news/get-ready-to-rock-cardiff-essential-travel-tips-for-this-summers-hottest-concerts

Customers are being reminded to plan their journey in advance, allow extra time to board trains home safely and to check the time of their last train home -  https://www.journeycheck.com/tfwrail/

Park & Ride facilities

There isn’t a park & ride facility for these events.

Disabled parking

Disabled drivers are advised to park at the Civic Centre within the paid dedicated event parking, however Blue Badge parking is available via first come first serve along Park Place / Museum Place.

Civic Centre Event Day Parking (Cars and Coaches)

Getting there: Exit Junction 32 of the M4, head south on the A470 towards the city centre and follow signage to the civic centre.

Cost: £20 payable on the day for cars and £30 for coaches – card payments are also now available.

Parking time: The car park will open at 8am and closes at 12 midnight. 

Event Day Parking at Sophia Gardens

(Approximately, 0.5 mile walk to the Principality Stadium, Gate 2).

Getting there: Exit junction 32 off the M4

Cost: £20 for cars and £30 for coaches – card payments are now available.

Parking time: Car park opens at 8.00am and closes at 12 midnight.

Please note: Sophia Gardens car park will be staffed until 7.00pm all vehicles are left on site at the owner's risk. Cardiff Council will not be held responsible for any theft or damage to motor vehicles or personal possessions. Any vehicles left in the car park after closing time will be fined.

Local buses:

Bus services will be diverted while the city centre road closures are in place

National Express:
 
National Express coaches will use Sophia Gardens as usual. 

Can you cycle or walk?

The cycleways and the pop-up cycleways within the road closure area will remain open for cyclists to use during the event, but North Road Cycleway will be diverted to facilitate the event set up and break down. On concert days a short diversion via a like for like bi-directional alternative route, will be in place. All diversions will be clearly signposted.

Shopping Parking

City centre car parks are also available: St David's Shopping Centre, John Lewis, Capitol Shopping Centre, and NCP (Adam Street, Dumfries Place and Greyfriars Road.)

TICKETING INFORMATION

All Blackweir 2025 tickets are Mobile Entry – so your phone is your ticket! You MUST download your tickets before heading to the festival site. Please make sure to follow the instructions below before leaving for your event to ensure that your tickets can be scanned for entry regardless of the connectivity at the venue.

 

1. Download or update the latest version of the Ticketmaster app for the iPhone in the Apple App store or for the Android in the Android App store.

2. From the app, find your order in My Events.

3. View your tickets by tapping View Barcode. Screenshots of your barcodes won’t get you in.

Once you have viewed your tickets in the Ticketmaster App. Your ticket is automatically saved so it is always ready. Please ensure you do NOT log out of the app!

The premium option for Blackweir 2025 is The Garden.


Get straight to the front in The Garden. The Garden is the ultimate dancing zone with access to an exclusive garden bar and premium food options as well as posh flushable loos all in an area right at the front of the stage!

DO I NEED TO BRING CASH?

All food concessions and bars are cashless. Please bring alternative payment options.

FOOD AND DRINK

Although you are unable to bring food & drink into the venue, we're certain you won't go hungry with a wide array of food and drink stalls inside the venue offering some of the most delicious cuisines. We have everyone's favourites on our roster and our concession stalls will be offering refreshments throughout the night.    

1 x sealed water bottle is permitted per person max 500ml

1 x empty reusable water bottle is permitted.

There will be free water re-fill stations at the venue.

If you have a medical condition, then a doctor’s note will permit diet-specific food and drink only.

CAN I BRING A CHAIR?

Chairs are not allowed into the area for any of Blackweir 2025 concerts, including The Garden area.

BAG AND PICNIC BLANKET POLICY

Bags larger than an A4 piece of paper are not permitted. All bags are subject to a search so please avoid bringing one where you can as this would speed up your entry to the festival. 

Please note - there are no lockers available. 

Picnic Blankets can be brought into Blackweir but must only be placed at the back of the festival arena. 

MEDICAL AND WELFARE

There are medical and welfare facilities available. Please ask a member of security to direct you to the facilities if required.

You can bring any medication that you require. If it is not easily recognisable (e.g. controlled drugs, EpiPens) please request this by contacting us here

Alternatively, you can bring a prescription with you and speak to a security supervisor on the day.

RE-ADMITTANCE POLICY

Once you leave the festival arena you will not be allowed back in.

WHAT IS YOUR POLICY FOR CHILDREN?

All under 18s must be accompanied by an adult ticket holder (aged 18 or over). No unaccompanied under 18s are allowed on site.

Children aged 2 and under can attend for free and don’t require a ticket.

All other children must have a full price ticket to enter the festival.

Prams and pushchairs are not permitted.
